# Photon

> Prescribing infrastructure for AI-enabled care: fast, safe and secure for prescribers, with price transparency and choice for patients.

Photon is prescribing infrastructure for AI-enabled care. Your product or agent drafts the prescription. A prescriber reviews, signs and sends it. Photon then texts the patient their pharmacy options with prices, and the patient chooses where to fill it.

## For prescribers: fast, safe, secure

| | How |
| - | - |
| **Fast** | Your backend or an agent can draft the whole order, so the prescriber only reviews, signs and sends. Templates fill in the drug, sig and quantity. Drug search lists each drug by form and strength, and offers its dispense units. |
| **Safe** | Every prescription is screened against the patient's allergies, medications and conditions before it's signed. When Photon isn't sure which patient or drug is meant, it asks instead of guessing. |
| **Secure** | Only a signed-in prescriber can sign, and the signature covers exactly what they reviewed. Tokens are scoped to one organization, and machine credentials can draft but never sign. |

## For patients: price transparency and choice

Nothing goes to a pharmacy until the patient picks one. The text Photon sends lists their options with price, hours, delivery and stock. Discount-card and sponsored offers are included where they apply. The patient gets status updates, and if a pharmacy can't fill the order, they switch in one tap. More prescriptions get filled, for less, with less work for your team.

## Two products

    The prescribing UI as an app, React components, an iframe or a link. It handles sign-in, drug search, screening, signing and sending.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Network" icon="diagram-project" href="/docs/network/overview">
    The API underneath. Use GraphQL from your backend or MCP from an agent to sync patients and draft prescriptions and orders.
  </Card>

Most platforms use both: Network drafts from what your product already knows, and Prescribe is where the prescriber signs.

## Two environments

    The sandbox. Build and test with fake patients. Nothing is sent to a real pharmacy, and every account gets free API credentials.

    Production. Real patients, real prescriptions and real pharmacies. The same API, with separate accounts and credentials.

Both products run in both environments. Build against Neutron, then change one word to go live.

## Where to start

| You are | Prescribers work in | Plan |
| - | - | - |
| An individual provider or small clinic | The [Prescribe app](/docs/prescribe/app), opened from [deep links](/docs/prescribe/app/deep-links) or drafted over [MCP](/docs/network/mcp) | Indie |
| A tech-enabled clinic | Prescribe, [embedded](/docs/prescribe/embed) in your product | Launch |
| A platform or care marketplace | Prescribe, or your own UI on the [JavaScript client](/docs/prescribe/embed/javascript) | Grow |

Plans match the [pricing page](https://photonhealth.com/pricing).
